I have been in the Real Estate business for over 25 years. I started out during the early 80's when interest rates were 19% and the only way to get a deal done was Land Contract. Well haven't we come far from then. I have watched interest rates drop into the 4% range when everyone was saying that would never happen. Then back up to around 10 and now look we are back in the 4-5% rate again. This time though our market is worse than it has ever been. People losing their homes only to find out that maybe the bank didn't have legal right to foreclose. Wow we really have to stay on top of our game.
I co-owned a Re/Max office for @ 10 years, worked under a few brokers and now I am on my own. I like the ability to spend my time with the clients, focusing on their needs. No other distractions from people working under you. It was fun and a great job but I am really enjoying going back to basics, working with clients.
I have continued my education to try and stay on top of the ever changing laws, and ways to work with these banks. I give 25% referral fees. I have done quite a bit of relocation business throughout the years. I have a 100% success rate in finding the dream home of all tranfering in clients. Now that isn't alway easy. I had a client design a shirt for me. On the front it says "I survived Joe's leave no stone unturned home tour!" On the back was a list of all the cities that we looked in before we found the right home. There were 8 cities! So sometimes you have to add a little extra work but it is worth it when you see their smiles at closing!
